The role is to assist persons with a disability to participate in the Breakaway experience. This will assist in helping them to develop a sense of belonging and be fully engaged in all activities and events. This role is ideal for someone wanting to gain experience or transition to a Disability Support Worker.
To get to know your assigned guest/s and ensure they have freedom of choice during their stay.
Be an advocate for the assigned guest/s to assist them to fully engage in the Breakaway experience.
Ensure that the assigned guest/s is treated with respect, is safe and always well cared for.
Support the assigned guest/s to be as independent as possible during their stay.
You can assist for a single shift, or 1 day or for as many days as you wish. Camp Breakaway provides on site programs (Camps) from 2-5 days and one day programs. We cater for all ages.
Collaborate and communicate with other carers and clinical staff ensuring all carers have a good understanding of the social and recreational needs of assigned guest/s.
To assist guests to fully participate in all social and recreational activities in accordance with their preferences

To report any concerns to Camp Coordinator
Commitment: Regular – more than 3 months
Time Required: Various options: 1 shift, 1 day or multiple days. Also, 2-5-day live-in programs.
Accessible: No Age Range: 18 to 65 (If 16-18 please contact us to discuss)
We provide Training: Induction & On the Job Training
Transport: Bus options available but limited. Own transport preferred parking is available on-site.
