No, if you don’t want to manage your own money or support, you can

    • Nominate someone else.
    • Choose a registered plan management provider.
    • Choose the NDIA (National Disability Insurance Agency) to manage it for you.

To apply for NDIS, you need to:

  • Check your eligibility for NDIS support.
  • Contact your local area coordinator or local NDIS office, or call 1800 800 110, or complete an NDIS application form12.

There are three ways to manage your NDIS funding:

  • self-managed, plan-managed, or NDIA-managed
  • when applying for NDIS funding or renewing your plan, you can specify how you want your NDIS funds managed
  • if you self-manage your NDIS funding, you will have control, independence, and flexibility in arranging and paying for your supports
  • managing NDIS funding involves buying the supports in your plan, receiving and managing your NDIS funding, keeping track of what you buy with your funding, and spending your funding according to your plan
  • When you become a participant in the NDIS your plan will include any supports that the NDIS will fund, including any reasonable and necessary transport-related funded supports. If you are receiving Mobility Allowance when you receive an approved NDIS plan, your eligibility for the Mobility Allowance payment ceases.
